Money Market Review (05/18/2026-05/22/2026)
Bit of a dry week, as Google laid plans to update their search engine in 25 years.

Google, Cuba, and Musk vs. Altman, plus the coming of AI robots. On our end, there aren't much reaction, almost as if people have become accustomed—de-sensitized—to all that's going on. For AI robots, young Gen Zs aren't a fan and mainstream media isn't liking the reactions. Iran is still being talked about with regards to peace talks. How long will that take?

This is the day Sony raises its prices on Playstation Plus. I'm sure it'll still be affordable for those working as elevator mechanics: hottest, six-figure job that has a less chance of being replaced with AI. Maybe that's where former employees of Meta can apply and work, as their layoffs are apparent. Rightfully so, because there were talks about earning a Master's Degree losing its edge. What's happening to education all of a sudden?

It was this day that Google is revamping their search for the first time in 25 years. Also, reports of AI robots coming is spewing negative feedback and reactions from the younger generation; mainstream media is not liking the reaction. Is there a reason why? Too many data centers? Here's the power YouTubers have: please thank Sam Reid, and Cinemassacre (James Rolfe), for making videos about Pizza Hut—its nostalgic-style restaurants, that is. Both these gentlemen have brought the craze, and popularity, of dining in a Pizza Hut again: much like how it was back in the 80s and 90s. My hope is that there won't be slews of rude, misbehaving customers; nuisance streamers "pussyfishing" for content.

Countdown to SpaceX's IPO is on; especially having gotten a deal with Anthropic, getting a payment of $1.25B. I wonder if that same countdown will be for OpenAI, as they, too, will be filing for an IPO. On the other hand, Samsung reached a deal with their union, preventing a company-wide strike. How much sweat did Samsung had to wipe off for that?

US stock futures boost upward as peace talks continue. Many users can use some "peace talks," as Spotify is pivoting to AI despite backlash. No backlash with IBM, as their shares skyrocketed, thanks to US funding for quantum computing. I don't know about you, but the mathematics used for quantum mechanics/computing is absolutely beautiful. Speaking of sweet, prices for cocoa is cooling, even though real chocolate is making a comeback.

Tulsi Gabbard resigns as President Trump's intelligence chief on this day. Counting down to SpaceX's IPO, Tesla owns 19 million shares; that didn't take long. However, not taxing half of America is also something many people wish would happen quickly: something suggested by Jeff Bezos. Should that unpaid taxes include gas prices? They are still high, and have been this week. Speaking of high, Microsoft's spending for AI has been reported that it's much higher than paying human employees. Will Natya Nadella take his insulting advice back: suggesting Microsoft laid off employees to talk with AI for being fired, sad, and depressed? Maybe this will cheer them up: Hooters is looking to be more family-friendly. Looks like short shorts and nylons are headed on its way out, are they?
While this week was relatively neutral and balanced, there weren't much "headline breaking" news this week. If anything, Google revamping their search is something to behold. On the close, Satya Nadella and Microsoft is finally coming to terms with their AI spending, after being fully invested in it. I can only feel for those who were laid off by Microsoft; my heart goes out to those affected. Nevertheless, it's nice that market analysts are doing countdowns, especially for new IPOs—SpaceX in this case. With Cuba's leader Raúl Castro, what will become of Cuba and markets tied with them?
How did you do this week? Anything that stood out, despite the neutral market results? Are you looking forward to SpaceX going public? Let's talk all about it in the comments section below!
