I understand: You don't have time to patiently whip up a fabulous meal in thirty minutes or more. And while I believe that great meals come from the effort of cooking from scratch, there are days when our patience has emptied out. Thank you Knorr for this!
You can't get any simple than this. Bringing two cups of fresh water to a boil, and simply add in the mix! The directions recommend Margarine as an option; I say make it mandatory. It'll bring in some fat, but also the richness of the margarine that isn't too overpowering. The packet says it cooks in 7 minutes or so, but never do I time it. My suggestion is trust your eyes. As long as you keep stirring and keeping an eye on it, it should cook in no time. Oh, and the Fettucini pasta is very thin so it will cook faster than the "normal-sized" pasta. Stir until the sauce thickens and you're good to go!
The taste is almost close to homemade. Considering that you added water and margarine seems like the alternate fodder to a delicious heaven. After you're done, you feel like you can down in a second bowl.
Out of a perfect 5 stars, I gave it only 4 stars. Firstly, the front label which misspelled the word "Fettucini." Not that spelling would deter shoppers from buying this but anyone doing the proofreading QC—quality control—needs to get this straight. And considering the packet isn't old and provided their Facebook fan page means there's no excuse for not researching the correct spelling. Secondly, and most might agree, the portions are incredibly small. Frankly, like the label says, it's a "Pasta Sides" dish. I'm a man and I eat like one—let's just say I just made a pro football athlete's appetite in competition with mine (no joke). Because this is best served as a side for your favorite greens, salad, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, the portions could be much larger. Or, it could be an entire meal in it of itself. Then again, this was made from New Jersey and not the South. (For some reason, southern restaurants and cooks serve up HUGE portions of food, even if for yourself. I think I'm starting to love the southerners. Hey y'all!)
Despite those flaws, this will make your stomach smile. I know that's anatomically impossible, but you'll feel it after eating this.
