"Water Colors"
A somewhat rare DVD showcasing the beautiful music and artistic flow from Peter Bardens.

When I read the cover description, "voyage on a dazzling journey through lush water worlds," I immediately thought it was a DVD involving visual meditation. Then I read the back description, which mentions songs from Pete Barden—a composer who has been involved with top acts such as Rod Stewart and Van Morrison. This is the first time I ever heard his stuff, and I must say, it's incredibly soothing.
Clocking close to forty minutes of music, the video is very much "the beauty of nature" shot at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming (for our international fans, Wyoming is a state in the United States). It's not all water; You get slow-motion shots of trees, the mountain sides, the rockies, clouds and sunshine. It sure makes a perfect DVD for travelers, hikers and aspiring geologists. As for the music, it's easy to get lost in them because they sound incredibly relaxing. Some of these tracks are something you'd hear at shopping malls, the airport terminals, waiting rooms and possibly at restaurants. The songs also make great for meditation, staying home reading a book on a Friday/Saturday night, or if the mood calls for it, having romantic sex. The fourth track was the only track that included lyrics, while the rest are all instrumental. Nevertheless, whether you've heard of Bardens' music or not, I'm sure you'll enjoy the tracks provided on this DVD.
As for the video, having been originally released in 1992, is relatively VHS quality. I felt that the original footage was digitized and simply burned to DVD; it doesn't look remastered to me. According to IMDB, this had a $150,000 budget which was still a bit significant back then. Other than that, the shots integrate the usages of slow motion, timelapse and various aerial shots. On track #6, the video ends with a rock shaped like a....face?
This DVD is best for music and/or fans of Pete Bardens, who sadly passed away in 2002. It's classic artists like him, whom I'm certain, would make comebacks and start touring again.
