Harlem Globetrotters versus World All-Stars
Nothing brings a smile to my face besides playing/watching the sport of basketball—a sport I've been a fan of since I was 9. How about basketball with a more high-quality entertainment value? Come in the Harlem Globetrotters!
On the day celebrating Love is also my sister's birthday. And what better way to celebrate than a trip to the Honda Center in Anaheim to watch the talented, yet hilarious, Globetrotters? Watching these folks do tricks with the basketball is a joy to watch. Sure, this show is best for kids but it sure brought the kid back in me; I only watched the Globetrotters on TV back then. Now here they are: in celebration of 90 years of globetrotting goodness.
For those who have not seen their show, it's an exhibition game dosed with pure fun and a lot of laughs with audience members. It's great, family-friendly entertainment.
As for those who are used to watching "real" pro sports, think of it like this: everything you know that happens on the court gets spelled out AND made fun of in this game. In other words, when watching basketball, everything that happens such as bad calls, distractions, controversial ejections, coach complaints, get portrayed here but in a funny way. You know how pro athletes keep reiterating how they're "entertainers" and compete "for the sake of the fans?" That's exactly what I mean. Speaking of that, one kid below us took the game so seriously, he cried when the Globetrotters were trailing and why the World All-Stars were not penalized for cheating. Sports fans: does that sound familiar? I wanted to tell that kid that adults react the same way when their team loses, except some of them turn violent and pick fights with fans of the winning team. (Sounds like fans that fight during the 49ers-Raiders game, the Falcons-Saints game, the Dodgers-Angels game, the Lakers-Celtics finals and even the Canadiens-Bruins game.)
Listen kid, along with all sports fans visiting this page: at the end of the day, it's just entertainment. Harlem Globetrotters also made this clear. Pro athletes even admit to this in various media outlets/interviews. Ask Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr before they fought in their "infamous" matchup in May 2, 2015.
Having conveyed that made me feel good inside, and the Globetrotters were no exception. These guys are talented, funny and fan friendly. I'm a big fan!
If you've got kids, or nieces and nephews, I strongly recommend watching the Harlem Globetrotters! It's a lot of fun!
(A Harlem Globetrotter actually did enter into the NBA. Last I recall was Jamario Moon who went to play for teams like the Raptors, the Heat and the Clippers to name a few.)
