Description

An assignment involving linear editing and the exercise of lighting, Chinese Torture (2004) became part of the final assignment done for the class. This was the rare video assignments printed originally on DVD, despite classmates' showing their projects on VHS.

"A classmate of mine, Jake, has to take credit for the idea of this video. We shot it in no time, with no rehearsals; what you see in the video was the way it was done on the first take. In fact, the moment we began shooting, I was so amused by Jake's part that you can hear me laughing a bit in the back.

Secret: My video production teacher had a personal feud with his boss—the character Jake played in this video. He hated his boss so much that he decided to reel this video twice in class. He laughed so hard, along with the other videos I was anxious to share immediately after (those videos weren't part of the assignment, but I wanted to show it to the class anyway as a surprise).

He was a great teacher."
