Money Market Review (12/29/2025-01/02/2026)
Another mixed week given the Gregorian New Year's Day, yet stocks finished high despite the current political/geopolitical goings-on.

Happy New Year's via the Gregorian calendar! (We say so since we're slowly considering the "new year" to start in the month of March—first day of Spring, but let's digress.) Another mixed week due to the holidays, and already, it's topsy turvy. However, all of a sudden crypto is having a 'recoverable' week. Could it be the [Gregorian] new year?

Suddenly, Gold and Silver plunged on this day—something that investors were to be wary about despite rallying for so many weeks. It's also been reported that Venezuela, on this day, shut off its wells despite the US involvement with their boats. On the other hand, talks about dropping home prices are being discussed, seeing if Americans are finally able to buy and own a home. Other than that, these are one of the days were people wait in getting through the Gregorian New Year, after Christmas, before continuing their plans which may explain the "under reporting."

Not too much reporting here, except this being the day where Elon Musk's xAI buys a third building to expand and build computing power. After a big dip, Gold and Silver rally back after a rough Monday. Lastly, Warner Bros. Discovery plans to turn down Paramount's higher bid—a bit of an oddball move on WB's part.

It's New Year's Eve—Gregorian—and sadly, the great Warren Buffett has officially retired. Reports on Bitcoin claims it'll rally back in the month of January. Speaking of rallying, the US has granted annual approval to TSMC chipmaking tool to China. For those in Europe, Bulgaria joins the Euro.
Happy (Gregorian) New Year!

Reflections on 2025 took place with rallies like AI being the main topic, as analysts seem bullish on it. For tech, Chinese tech stocks are high this day which is a great sign. One of the analyst predicts that another government shutdown would be imminent this year, though shorter than last time—something to look out for as the month continues. Another thing looking forward to is 107% tariffs on Italian pasta will no longer take effect. Lastly, CEO of Saks steps down due to mishandling of debt.
Rough start but stocks ended the week higher. We could say it's the new year, but things seem to be looking up for investors. Plenty of different factors at play, from tech to political and geopolitical goings-on which is affecting the markets, both domestically and globally. However, if you ask me, tech will continue to thrive, yet the data centers continue to eat up more water and electricity. Something to look at going forward.
