Money Market Review (01/05/2026-01/09/2026)
Very good week to start off the month of January.

The world continues to be chaotic, but while markets are still running, we'll be okay. First week of the Gregorian New Year, there were some mixed days but "all good on the Western front." Plenty to be had given that Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro was held captive, which has a lot of alignment with oil. Such phenomenon has the markets in some twists and turns, but things look quite good to start the new year.

Gold and Silver continues to rally even into the Gregorian New Year, and more-so, thanks to all that's happened with Venezuela. Speaking of rallying, Bitcoin started off well seeing a spike in market value which is good news. Not a competition, but we do have one in the tech space: Hyundai is looking to challenge Tesla in developing humanoid robots. This is something to wait and see while the populace continues to be mad, angry, and fighting amongst each other, and not doing anything productive like investing (that's good, at least we won't be distracted). I'm sure once president Trump hands over that stimulus check to get the economy going, we're sure these very same people will still find things to get angry about.

All eyes were on Venezuela which dominated the news, but Meta has appointed a former Microsoft employee as their chief legal officer. Popular processor brand AMD's stocks sink a bit despite their CEO saying their chips are in high demand. Also, on this day, state of Rhode Island is looking to tax the rich as a move to counter president Trump's policies.

This day marks the time when president Trump bans large investors from investing into single-family homes. We'll see how the housing market goes after this ban, since being a homeowner is very much the goal. Suddenly, we're seeing an expansion in the robotics department as Arm has launched a "physical AI." Looks like we'll see AI go from software to robot form. For those who have Apple Card, JPMorgan reached a deal with Apple to take over their credit cards.

General Motors electric vehicles are in a bubble that may likely burst, due to low demand. That didn't take long, and here we are with autonomous vehicles taking over. Speaking of taking over, Alphabet is looking to surge past Apple being the second most valuable company in the market. I believe one of the factors is having Google lead past OpenAI in AI all of a sudden. We don't talk much around the health sector, but Merck is in talks buying biotech company Revolution Medicines. While all the chaos is going on, health will still be a huge factor moving forward, and the moment it does, the populace would have forgotten what happened in the last month. However, amidst all the chaos and those reacting to it tells me that blood pressure medicine will be on the rise—similar to those buying and taking Vitamin D.

It's nice when stocks finish on a high note while high blood pressure is becoming prevalent among the populace, unable to control their own emotions and arguments. Maybe they need to go shopping because Amazon announces they'll be planning a big box store, similar to Walmart, near the Chicago area. Also, because president Trump praises Intel's progress in making chips, their stocks went up. Who would've thought that a simple, kind gesture would do a company some good? For companies themselves, the job market isn't any better, marking its worst since 2020.
Really good week to start January off, despite a few downs here and there. There's been a ton going on, not related to stock market news, and despite otherwise, it's been a really steady week especially on the crypto space. Granted, when things happening in the news that eats up plenty of people's time, it's suggested to look at the markets immediately just to see where things are headed. That way, you can plan ahead and see if the situation(s) going on will net you some cash. I mean, nowadays, you can predict—gamble—on plenty of things, so might as well focus on financial stability, instead of these losers going on social media whining and crying about things. It'll not only put you ahead of thing financially, but you won't be at risk for high blood pressure; in addition, you won't be tracked nor apprehended for posting and sending death threats online either (you know very well that users posting or sending death threats to anyone is illegal, as we don't condone such behavior; control your emotions). Looks like this week was not only a good week for markets, but also managing emotions—something investors and traders already know how to do. If you are one of them, be proud; today's people can't even process their own thoughts, let alone read a blog post like this.
How was your trading week? Anything that surprised you? Do you think Bitcoin and other digital currencies will rally at some point? Let's talk all about it in the comments section below!
