Money Market Review (12/08/2025-12/12/2025)

Two words: weird week.

Image of a stock list on Yahoo! Finance!

What a weird week. Just when things ended well last week, didn't fare good going into this part of the calendar. It's as if the announcement of a possible rate cut made things worse, yet then again, consumer spending and job openings didn't reflect much of it. On the other hand, there's been a huge surge in prediction markets, showing where consumers are doing their spending. That's telling: and because of consumers running low in cash, they tend to gamble. This is something gambling therapists and psychologists have been mentioning for years, and it's usually not the best course of pursuing, even though plenty of people think it's an easy "get rich" scheme. Anyway, this week was rather 'dry' and is a part of the calendar we can leave behind. Let's show you why.

A good start for Citigroup as this day, they hit a 17-year high, up 55% this year. Also, we said that the Warner Bros. transaction is where we're active in keeping eyes on; well, Paramount Skydance makes "hostile bid" for Warner Bros. Discovery—something we've never heard of. Things are getting even more interesting with this bid. Anyway, Department of Commerce plans to open exports of Nvidia H200 chips to China, which was "green-lit" by President Trump. Speaking of President Trump, this day, he hinted on an AI executive order; another is unveiling a $12B bailout for farmers due to tariffs. A former chief engineer of Lucid Motors sues the company for wrongful termination. Americans aren't confident on the economy. Investment protegé Todd Combs plans to leave Berkshire. And lastly, Microsoft is in talks to switch their custom chip design partnership to Broadcom, away from Marvell. Seems like Microsoft didn't find any "heroics" from Marvell.

Stocks didn't end nicely on this day, but talks of trades with US and Indonesia may not make it through. While on the topic of not making it through with countries, US will required checking of social media accounts for visitors with no Visa visiting America. Intel lost their challenge against EU's antitrust ruling this Tuesday. Lastly, President Trump looking to settle peace with the Thai-Cambodia conflict, as over 500,000 flee.

The games stop here: Gamestop's shares plunge as their sales in hardware, games and accessories fall. This day marks Oracle's shares falling, failing to earn some kind of revenue through their AI investments. PNC banking has launched direct crypto trading through Coinbase. Intel and AMD are accused of allowing chips in Russian missiles. Lastly, President Trump suggests that if Warner Bros accepts a bidder's offer, that sale should include CNN. While the stock market did well on this day, the finance news says otherwise, with shares falling for certain companies.

THURSDAY (12/11/2025)

It's unfortunately getting worse for Oracle as their $300B investment isn't getting the return they hoped. Since PNC has allowed direct crypto trading with Coinbase, Coinbase is jumping into the prediction markets and tokenized stocks. Speaking of money flowing, and spending, Foxconn plans to invest $510 million in Kaohsiung headquarters in Taiwan. While being in Taiwan, investors think Nvidia and Google will help their stocks. Also, Lululemon's stocks rise up on their third quarter earnings, though their CEO plans to step down. We can say that this day was where all we're seeing the results of how certain company's investments were doing; we're seeing that with Oracle. Larry Ellison, what happened?

FRIDAY (12/12/2025)

NASDAQ-100 -1.91%

Solaris Energy Infrastructure, Inc. -14.82%

Not a great look on Friday, as stocks were lower into the close. President Trump has both de-regulated AI and re-classified marijuana, despite stocks among 'pot' increases due to easing restrictions. Oracle plans to delay their data center projects for OpenAI until 2028, which is interesting considering that ChatGPT saw a drop in users. Also, Rivian stocks jumped having ventured into autonomous driving. Google is facing a $128M French asset freeze after Russian ruling. And lastly, Jamie Dimon shows support for Kevin Warsh in Fed chair hiring.

MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW FOR THIS WEEK (12/08/2025-12/12/2025)

This was a weird week. Perhaps, it was some of the "false" reports in consumer spending or otherwise, but the numbers didn't lie and was reflective of going into this month. Our favorite company, Oracle, saw themselves in a hole they feared being in, and because ChatGPT saw a bit of a drop in users, especially a few weeks ago, it was likely the reason for these data centers to see a hold-off until 2028. While Fed did announce some cuts, it didn't mean job listing were open and ready to hire, given the non-stop reports about AI restructuring work as we know it. For crypto, it's not getting better, even though digital coin companies are slowly becoming banks. This could slowly be a sign that crypto will be the currency of tomorrow since the US dollar may continue to weaken. I didn't find this week to be fascinating, but just weird; I believe there were miscommunication between news reports and numbers shown among stocks (then again, are news outlets ever trustworthy?), and felt things went from bad to worse after the Fed cut rate. If anything, as I'm sure things like this have happened before, this was a week to forget.

Who do you think Warner Bros. Discovery will sell to? What did you think of the Fed rate cut this week? Despite the plunging market, do you think crypto will rally as their companies fully convert into banks? Let's talk all about it in the comments section below!
