"I've Been Waiting For You" by Las Triplets (The Triplets)
Underrated, rare song that charted #2 under US Latin top hits in 1993. Deserves more playtime on the radio and streams.

| Algo Mas Que Amor | Las Triplets (The Triplets) | I've Been Waiting For You | #11 | 1993 |
If you recall female bands such as Exposé, Sweet Sensation, or The Bangles, these Latin triplets ought to add that flair into your eighties/nineties pop fix. Despite their first albums, and soundtracks, being mostly in Spanish, you're looking at one of their early songs sung in English. Some of you may remember this hit, while for many, it's one of those gems that haven't been discovered in a long time. We hope that changes with this lyrical interpretation.
VERSE 1:
boy, i've been searchin' this world for so long
tryin' to find someone who could be
what my picture of love was to me
then you came along
BRIDGE 1:
from the moment that i looked in your eyes
i found the one i loved all my life
CHORUS:
'cause i've been waiting for you (waiting for you)
all my life for somebody who (somebody who)
makes me feel the way i feel when i'm with you baby
have you been waiting too
'cause i've been waiting for you
Self-explanatory: it's a woman envisioning her perception of love until the man, who coincides with her taste(s), appeared before her eyes. "Eyes are windows to the soul," as is famously said, and knew that he was the one for her. The chorus expresses that very love she has, telling him she's been waiting for this moment all her life.
VERSE 2:
boy i've been savin' my love all this time
'cause i knew someday i would find
the one that i've loved for so long
in my mind
BRIDGE 2:
when i saw you, i knew you were the one
the love that i'd been dreamin' of
[CHORUS 1]
"Patience is a virtue," is another famously uttered quote prevalant here. Given that plenty of people have little patience, wanting something at the click of a button, Love is those feelings that require/reward patience. Feel free to ask those in love, or have been married for decades, and they'll tell you. One can argue about "love at first sight," depending on the circumstance, but seeing someone you are able to grow in love with is something words can't translate into.
BRIDGE 3:
now that i found you, i just can't let you go
no no no whoa
oh there's just one thing i want you to know
(boy i love you so)
CHORUS 2:
i've been waiting for you
all my life waiting for you
i've been waiting for you
all my life (all my life), waiting for you
[CHORUS 1]
[CHORUS 2]
[CHORUS 2]
She's found the one and can't let him go. That's what being in love is: you happily stick with that person for good to where you can't, and won't, let them go. They complete you.
Given the song charted at #2 under US Latin hits, it's one of those forgotten gems. While this isn't a song review, vocals and melody spew hints of Selena [Quintanilla-Pérez] and Gloria Estefan; that eighties/nineties style pop song, almost coming off as one-hit wonder "If Wishes Came True" by Sweet Sensation. Many of you who still enjoy eighties and nineties music may either recall this song or be happy to discover something underrated yet forgotten. Oh, and yes, Las Triplets—The Triplets—are still currently active today.
