The Numbers Are In (2025): Week 04 Recap

Week 04 will come down as the weirdest week in terms of results so far. Some of the most unlikely teams won, while some had their records broken. Sure, it would've eventually happened, despite being caught up in the thrill of it all, but other teams remain winless. What gives? Let's look at what the numbers say this week, as well as which teams hit, what we call, the "Grand Slam."

Despite Thursday Night Football drawing some low ratings, this game should have kicked it up a bit. This game came down to the wire, despite the struggles all throughout per Cardinals. The final field goal by the Seahawks sealed the deal; reflective of the odds made, per Money Line and Point Spread. Not too bad of a game, but that second half comeback by the Cardinals was a nice treat.

Interceptions—the Vikings' favorite word for this game. Broadcasted from Dublin, Ireland, all was well with this game. While this game was close, albeit intentional grounding near the end, Irish residents were given a good one. For those who listened to this game on WestwoodOne Sports radio, Kate Scott announced this very game, making her the first female to call an NFL game. (Yes, we tune in and listen to sports radio, hoping in bringing more listeners.)

Despite the empty seats, Falcons came away with a great game. The best part about this game? The energy from the Falcons nearly every play; it made them fun to watch. On the betting side, Atlanta nearly got the "Grand Slam," only losing the Total Points. Besides that, another thing that made this game worth watching were the announcers. Great job, gentlemen!

You can tell from the odds that this was a given. However, Bills did not get the "Grand Slam" as that would've been too easy of bets to make. New Orleans won via Point Spread and Total Points, while Bills won the Money Line. For the 30% who bet on Point Spread and Total Points came away with a great payout. The game itself wasn't too bad, though Saints held their own; much respect to them. Besides that, surprises came more on the betting side.

Game want well and was great. However, there were moments where the Browns stopped trying; it was a weird thing to see. Aside from that, it was another decent game. As you may have guessed, not only did Detroit come away with a win, they hit the "Grand Slam" too. Given they were the favorites for this game, bettors across all three sections won. Great job, Lions!

This was another game in the books—a blowout. On the betting side, New England nearly came away with a "Grand Slam," just shy if winning Total Points under 43. Nothing much, but this was an easy win for the Patriots, and bettors got theirs as well.

If brakets were a thing for NFL regular season, this game likely busted it. Chargers held their own, but struggled a bit on defense, leaving some doors open for Giants. After several seasons of struggle, this was a welcome relief for Giants fans. Better yet, on the betting side, Giants hit a "Grand Slam," winning all bets. How about that: Fans get a win, bettors won and saw huge profits in their winnings, as Giants came in as underdogs. Any game that perfectly defines a "Grand Slam," it would be this one. Excellent job by the Giants!

Buccaneers stuck around really well and nearly caught up. The game was good and fun to watch. As you may have guessed, Eagles were too much and won, including bets on all three sections. Despite being the favorites on Tampa Bay's turf, Eagles handled business as usual and currently remains undefeated. Impressive work!

Not one point from the Titans, leaving them dry in wins. While the game looked like two college football teams competing, Texans found a way and took advantage. On the betting side of things, it was no surprise. Houston landed the "Grand Slam" and took care of business. Texans also did so with sacks which helped them throughout the game. That's about it.

Another game that we'd call the "bracket buster," if sports apps had one for regular season. Rams handed the Colts their first loss with great effort. If you're a Colts fan, remember his name: Adonai Mitchell. There's more than enough compilation videos online showing what happens when you celebrate too soon; it costed Indianapolis a touchdown. Despite Rams being the favorite, they hit a "Grand Slam" with this one. Incredible game!

Here's another game that would've busted brackets. Amazing effort by Travis Etienne Jr. and Parker Washington for the Jaguars. San Francisco had this game under control until some errors beginning of the second half, giving Jaguars an advantage. Although Jaguars missed a field goal late in the fourth, San Francisco were not able to catch up. On the betting side, Jaguars hit a "Grand Slam" with all three sections winning. A team that's an underdog, wins the game and all bets? Sounds ilke a "home run" to us.

The Chiefs look like how they were winning last season's Super Bowl. Nothing too much except Kansas City also winning the betting side except Total Points. Other than that, it was a decent game, making the Chiefs a likely threat going forward.

In spite of the struggles, Chicago held on with this game. Three words: Blocked field goal. Being underdogs, Bears hit the "Grand Slam, with this one. As for Raiders, Hope is the only way. It's still been quiet on the Raiders' front, with who-knows-what kind of improvements forthcoming. Could it be a sign—that Chicago is making the Raiders' stock look "Bear-ish?"

This was quite a Sunday Night treat, resulting in stalemate thanks to the game-tying field goal from Green Bay. For the betting, Money Line showed no wins and no loss due to the tie. All betting aside, this was a fun game to watch, or listen for those tuned in the radio broadcast. While neither team came away with a win, this was a great game.

Much like the Titans-Texans game, someone had to come away with a win. Dolphins took care of business, even though the Jets looked solid. On the betting side, Dolphins won majority, namely Money Line and Point Spread. Not too bad of a Monday Night, but glad one team got their first win.

Broncos were too much in this game. Bengals have looked dry after losing Joe Burrow to injury. Denver, in terms of betting, hit the "Grand Slam" easily. What more is there to say?

Week 04 was rough it terms of picks. You can see that some of the teams that were assumed to go undefeated, lost as a result. However, a whopping seven (7) teams hit the "Grand Slam," impressing both fans and bettors. For those new here on our website, we say "Grand Slam" for a team that wins three sections of betting—Money Line, Point Spread and Total Points—plus the game itself. In other words, teams with the "Grand Slam" hit all those betting sections, along with winning in general.

You can tell from the picks that there are some biases—having picked Raiders twice, so far, for example; while some picks were chosen against the popular pick, such as choosing Colts over Rams. Then you got some surprises, like Jaguars downing the 49ers; and some were a toss-up due to their team record, such as Titans-Texans. In other words, it was a topsy-turvy result, and our picks performed worse than Week 03. We're guessing bettors likely felt some pinches on behalf of bets due to the "Grand Slam" hit by some unlikely teams. Nevertheless, as mentioned earlier, had a bracket been presented to fans, we'd have seen some busted this week.
