The Numbers Are In (2025): Week 07 Recap

Week 07 featuring scores from NFL.com!

This week saw nearly half the scheduled games decided by their last play. Some unlikely teams fought the good fight, while others didn't do so well. Some records were broken, while others won on the side of betting. This week was all about thrills, with comebacks, deemed unlikely, happened among some games. The most impressive thing we witnessed this week? The announcer for Dolphins-Panthers game. See below.

This was a great game—Flacco against Rodgers. Game was quite steady, then came down to the fourth quarter. What was almost a game-winning touchdown became an incomplete pass, leaving Bengals to survive and "steal" from the Steelers. For the betting, Bengals were the underdogs and won two out of three sections, which were Money Line and Point Spread. While Steelers were the favorites, and majority picked them to win, the betting public went with Bengals. Looks like sports bettors walked away with a wad of cash, profitting off that game-winning field goal. The game itself was really good, and both fans and bettors were given a treat for Thursday Night.

Rams were too much for the Jaguars, taking place in London. Not sure what more there is, other than Jaguars looked very "stand back." For betting, Rams won Money Line and Point Spread, while Jaguars won Points Total. If anything, DaVonte Adams scored three touchdowns—in hockey, it'd be called a "Hat Trick." Besides that, Rams were unanimous with this win.

Amazing win by the Bears; their defense shined brighter than light. While the Saints nearly 'marched' in, it wasn't enough as Bears were too much. For betting, this marks the first game where we get a "Grand Slam" by Chicago, winning all three betting sections. Absolutely awesome game by the Bears, and a great win for both fans and bettors.

Browns took care of business with this game. When you hold a team to one touchdown, that's when a team's defense worked wonders. For betting, Browns won Money Line and Point Spread, while Dolphins only won Total Points. That's very much it with this game, despite both teams not having great records.

Not only that, Patriots hit the "Grand Slam" winning all three bets. What a great day for Patriots fans, both team and betting. The game itself featured some awesome touchdown plays, especially that great catch by Kayshon Boutte. This was a great game, and Patriots are leading the AFC East.

Not one point from the Raiders. We even listened to the Raiders postgame show, via Raiders 960AM radio, and heard plenty of angered Las Vegas fans. They were unhappy, and embarrassed, with this game. The Chiefs played as if this game was just a practice session; we feel bad for all Raiders fans. It wouldn't surprise that Chiefs hit the "Grand Slam" via betting, being heavy favorites. All quiet on the Raiders front, and for wrong reasons.

Off the bat, one thing that stood out was low attendance among Jets fans. The game was fine, though Jets left so many open opportunities for Panthers; it's like Jets didn't care much. Almost like the Raiders-Chiefs game, Chargers ran out of "juice" against Colts. Chargers did what ever they could, but Colts have been trampling against their opponents with ease this season (6-1 record so far). For betting, you guessed it: Colts hit the "Grand Slam" being the underdogs. Both Colts fans and bettors stomped their way to a win in Los Angeles, cutting off their "electrical charge." Hey, at least Chargers put some points up, so it wasn't too tough a loss.

A great Sunday Night game to wrap up the day. Both teams were within distance, until the 49ers sealed the deal. If you watched this game, or seen the highlights, there were a great amount of touchdown plays. On the betting side, 49ers hit the "Grand Slam." Interesting result because if you check the numbers, more than 60% of bettors bet on Atlanta via Point Spread. Looked like this was supposed to be a close game, until, again, 49ers secured the win. Really good game for Sunday Night, and a great win for San Francisco.

It was this game that reminded us the unnecessary strict rules NFL has with regards to touchdown celebrations. Jaxon Smith-Njigba scored a touchdown and slam dunked the ball via goal post; he was penalized for it. We miss when players choreographed their touchdown celebrations; nowadays, it's like NFL is treating the field like an office. Anyway, Seahawks did well given their city's baseball team, Mariners, fell to the Blue Jays in Game 7. While the Seahawks didn't hit the "Grand Slam" via betting, they won with a slam dunk instead. Jaxon, if you're reading this, good job on the dunk. These men only have one opportunity at being young; let them celebrate their achievements.

THOUGHTS AND REFLECTIONS ON WEEK 07

Not too bad of a week, given there were more highlight plays. Some teams hit the "Grand Slam" though there weren't very many. One of the teams that's been amazing so far are Patriots, with a record 5-2. There may be a possibility of a postseason appearance, but they've been doing great. Raiders being the only team, this week, not to score a point, then heading into their 'Bye' week, was something. Once again, is that reflective of the poor economy in Las Vegas? The most exciting game had to be Giants and Broncos. Just another conjecture of never celebrating nor remain complacent until the game is finished, and Giants learned that. Great comeback by Denver. To close out Week 07 were two decent games, though we were never fans of NFL putting a "notice" when it came to players celebrating their touchdowns. Touchdowns are like homeruns in baseball and goals in hockey: Once scored, players and fans celebrate the next 2-3 minutes, partying like it's New Year's Day. Sure, game delays, network broadcasting, commercial breaks, all play a factor, but that doesn't mean these young players don't deserve some time to dance it out. Doubtful that NFL will reverse such rule anyway, but shoutout to Jaxon and his fans. If Jaxon's slam dunk is featured in a collectible, football card, we'll be hunting for it. Good job, Jaxon; there needs to be more slam dunks in [American] football.
