The Numbers Are In (2025): Week 14 Recap

Coming off of Week 13, with some teams on 'bye,' we made it clear that anything can happen. Did that "anything" actually happen? It did, as we can rightfully point to the Colts-Jaguars game for that. Also, because there was only one "Grand Slam" last week, which came from the Seahawks, suddenly this week was very much payday for bettors (speaking of betting, however, there's plenty being talked about with that Broncos-Raiders game). We must say, it was a very interesting week, though not terrible nor boring by any means.

The Lions' defense was solid, which explains them leading throughout this game. Cowboys weren't in double digits until the third quarter; that's how far behind they were in this game. Strangly enough, with respect to the high score, majority of points scored were field goals. There wasn't a "Grand Slam" here, but it's no surprise Lions won most of the betting sections—Money Line and Point Spread. This game was okay, and was a more lively game for Thursday Night than some of the games previous.

"Battle of the Birds," if you will, in Atlanta, and strangely enough, Falcons never scored a touchdown; all their points were from field goals. Seahawks remained resilient throughout the game and were unstoppable. Like last week, Seahawks hit the "Grand Slam" again, winning all three betting sections. Seahawks are tied, both in the wins and loss columns, with Rams, and 49ers are not far behind. Things are getting very interesting in the NFC West.

A snow-filled game in Buffalo, which made watching this very cozy. Bills were struggling in the first half; but made a serious effort in the fourth quarter. Despite the loss, Bengals won Point Spread and Total Points on the side of betting. This loss won't mean much anyway, but for those still betting, they won some cash at least. For Buffalo, it'll be a tough run catching up with New England in the AFC East.

As you may have guessed, this is a match-up between two teams with no chance in the playoffs. For that, this is very much a toss-up especially for those betting. Looking at the game, Titans started strong early as it slowly began snowing. The Browns held their own just fine actually, but came up a bit short. Fellow sports bettors who bet on Titans cashed in some extra bread as Titans hit the "Grand Slam." Even though they had a rough season, this was a great win for the Titans.

Not one point scored by the Commanders, which is exactly what happened with Raiders in Week 7, and Vikings themselves in Week 13. Also, Vikings hit the "Grand Slam" via betting, which is great for bettors making up their losses from last week. Not much to say about this game, but it was a cake-walk for Vikings.

Not much going with the Jets at this point, meeting similar fate as Titans. Jets only scored one touchdown throughout the game, while Dolphins looked and played great. Another "Grand Slam" hit with the Dolphins, winning all three betting sections. That's about it with this game.

This is looking like the week for underdogs, as Buccaneers only scored two touchdowns. Saints held on just fine which was great as they had one touchdown more than the Buccaneers. Better yet, Saints hit the "Grand Slam" winning all three betting sections. Buccaneers losing puts them tied with the Panthers both in wins and losses.

We made this very clear in weeks previous: anything can happen. It did. This win by Jaguars places them in first at the AFC South; Colts dropped to the third position. Jaguars didn't hit the "Grand Slam," but goodness, they held no prisoners in this game, scoring touchdowns like it's basketball. This was a great win for Jaguars, putting them in third overall at the AFC in hunt for playoffs. Not to say we were right in Colts losing their spot, but again, things turn around quickly as this game was reflective of that.

Another team that needed this win—Steelers as you saw. The black-and-yellow team kept plowing and plowing through, despite Ravens' solid defense. More reasons for Steeler fans to smile as they hit the "Grand Slam" as well, winning all three betting sections. Pittsburgh are very close to securing their spot for postseason, as Baltimore are in the bubble. It's crunch time now.

Only two touchdowns by the Raiders scored in this game, while Broncos had three of them plus a field goal. No "Grand Slam" here by the Broncos, but they've got postseason to focus on; yes, they're very much going to stamp their ticket in the playoffs. That's about it for this game.

Scoring between both teams didn't happen until the second quarter. Packers looked great in this game, not giving Bears a chance since they've been dominant the entire season. On the betting side, Packers won Money Line and Point Spread; no "Grand Slam" here. This was a crucial win for Green Bay as they itch closer to stamping their spot in the playoffs. For the Bears, they have a hill to climb even though their chances of being in the playoffs is also good.

Rams were just good in both this game and the season. For Cardinals, they only scored two touchdowns in this game, including one field goal. However, Rams hit the "Grand Slam" winning all three betting sections, despite being the visiting favorites. Rams are very much securing their spot in this season's playoffs; we'll see how far they'll go from here.

Chiefs scored only one touchdown this whole game plus a field goal; that was it. After the trade deadline, Texans has shown great improvement and winning a good amount of games. As for the betting, Texans didn't get the "Grand Slam" but bettors cashed in some money. This win by Houston itches them closer to getting a spot in the playoffs. Great win for Texans.

What a great Monday Night game that went into overtime. Looking at the score, Eagles earned most of their points via field goals; they only had one touchdown this game. While it was a close game, it was fun. Chargers got the "Grand Slam" winning all betting sections—clean sweep. While Eagles are still in a good position for the postseason, Chargers still have ways to go since they could easily lose their spots. Nevertheless, this was a game Chargers needed to win, and that they did.

Compared to last week, there were plenty of "Grand Slams" in terms of betting. Some of games were okay, but we enjoyed the Bengals-Bills game, along with Texans-Chiefs. There weren't any particular plays, nor moments, that beg for further analysis, but otherwise it was a decent week. Once again, with regards to the playoff picture, we're getting closer: who will stamp their spot? After their loss today, suddenly Colts find themselves on the bubble, vying for a spot when they were doing well ever since. The teams that are out of the playoff picture are still scheduled and can disrupt others trying to get in; we call those eliminated teams "the disruptors." Every win counts as they've always been, but there's no time to waste. For those analyzing the future scene may find that it's likely the Eagles could still make their way through; unsure about the Chiefs as they've struggled lately. What we think: we're likely going to see a new winner this season.
