Money Market Review (07/06/2026-07/10/2026)
The question everyone wants to know: what will Mark Zuckerberg do?

Looks like SpaceX is seeing some downturn since it's debut. President Trump has been on the news lately, in terms of the US-Iran conflict, Trump accounts, and other things. Also more AI news, in spite of tech moguls wondering why they're not seeing much of a return. Anyone exhausted yet?

Despite releasing a pair of smartglasses, US states are asking $1.4T from Meta, thanks to the youth safety trial. Maybe those states could use that money for investment in Syntiant: an Intel-backed chip company, who filed an IPO. They could learn from Samsung, who profitted 1,800% with their AI chip sales. Amazing...even though AI leaders are suddenly changing their tune about AI taking jobs. Microsoft would like to say something about that: they just laid off 4,000 jobs, in contrast to their Xbox division. Perhaps attention spans since the Xbox One may be a factor: something Netflix is struggling with right now. Would this mean Netflix will be making short-form content—short films, maybe? TikTok, Instagram, SnapChat, Facebook, and YouTube: be on the lookout!

President Trump says strikes against Iran are done, despite having done it. Apple would have something to say about that: they "struck" a deal with Broadcom worth more than $30 billion. Yeah...that's all the takeaway we got on this day.

US military launched strikes against Iran for second day in a row. All this while President Trump mentioned about taking over Kharg Island. I don't think that should make anyone fret, since Meta is doing the same thing: they're "taking over" land in Canada to build their data centers. Not sure how fellow Canadians will react, since it's mostly been negative, but once Canadians make their voice(s) heard, we may see Mark Zuckerberg denied entry at hockey or curling games; perhaps even declined orders of maple syrup and poutine. If that concerns Zuckerberg, maybe he should consider New York's real estate to build data centers at: Google's co-founder sold their real estate at a 94% loss. Ouch. Sure, it'll eat up electricity, yet it's been reported that US will encounter an electrical shortfall by 2030. Makes you ask the same question Public Enemy labeled as their album title in 2020: What you gon' do when the grid goes down? Ask any social media influencer, they'll tell you...even though they technically can't if the electricity is down, so...

Traffic at Hormuz is at a stand-still, but reports stay countries are getting used to it. Looks like there is a benefit to living in Los Angeles after all! Speaking of Los Angeles, nearly 50% of young adults are still living at home—which is 12 points up from 2019. I don't blame those folks, as mortgage rates rise again, thanks to strikes done past the ceasefire deal between US and Iran. I tell you: those ceasefire deals are very much like an internet meme at this point. Then again, is anyone paying attention?

Apple is suing OpenAI after trade secret theft. Let's hope those trade secrets didn't include Zuckerberg's plan to offset AI spending; I mean, there's money to be made, right? However, money does not equal features: as Meta axed their AI features for Instagram users due to people not wanting it. At this point, pestering people with AI probably isn't a great marketing move right now. How will citizens take AI by 2030? It may settle and people will start using it more without guilt, or we'll be living like it's 2017 again; who knows? If AI doesn't get their return on investment, you can't blame the people if they don't want it; so who will the blame be on—science fiction writers, for "spoiling" what happens in an automated world? Seems like people don't mind working and earning some kind of living. Tell that to those who collected trash outside of Taylor Swift's and Travis Kelce's wedding. That's right: some people have snatched trash during their wedding ceremony, selling it for prices high as $100. What value will that hold in the long run—"valuable" trash obtained from Swift-Kelce wedding? Fans may as well snatch, and obtain, Taylor Swift's fingernail and toenail clippings and sell that. if anything (there exists Korean pop—K-pop—fans who obtained and sold one of their artists' urine, which I wish was a joke, but it isn't).
My goodness, what a strange week. However, Paramount is holding its sale of Warner Bros., due to legal troubles. Oddly enough, Mark Zuckerberg and Meta dominated the headlines this week. Not sure what's going on, but Zuckerberg is really trying to find ways in solidifying AI all around. That's fine, as I believe AI has its benefits, but majority seem mixed; it's hard to win them over. It seems they don't mind the (hard) labor, in spite of knowing the risks associated with it. I don't blame the people as well: there have been countless books and movies showing what might happen, were an AI apocalypse to occur. Does anyone own a gun? If guns are banned, then would anyone know martial arts—karate, tae kwon do, ninjitsu, muay thai? May as well lay back and have the people enjoy AI for: creating thumbnails for their YouTube videos. Hey, it's the little things that count, right?
Because the markets are affected by it, will peace ever be taken between US and Iran? What will Zuckerberg do, given the legal aspect and easing spending for AI? Will Paramount pull back their purchase? Let's talk all about it in the comments section below!
