Money Market Review (10/20/2025-10/24/2025)
A very steady week with more winners than losers, amid the government still being shutdown.

Talks of this week was government shutdown; what else is new? This week saw the markets a bit mixed, though it was much better. Besides the rebound of crypto, there's still some uncertainties, but it seems there was a bit more trading confidence. Perhaps the numbers will tell us.

Start of the week sought a 'happy' market. One of this is President Trump showing some confidence in soybean deal with China. Apple sees their new iPhone 17 sales skyrocketing passed their previous iPhone 16. The US and Australia sign a $8.5B mineral deal. What stood out this day was the AWS outage. Plenty of platforms went offline due to it, such as SnapChat and Roblox.

Here's the kicker: Gold dipped on this day from its record high—biggest one-day decline in 12 years. However, Capital One announcing a $16 billion buyback as their profit went up. This report stood out for us since we'd often get spam emails claiming they're from Capital One, but they're just phishing/scamming. Also, the Trump Administration resumes aid for farmers that was stopped by the government shutdown.

The topic that stood out was reports on more building of data centers for AI. There was also earnings releases for both Tesla and Las Vegas Sands, both beating their estimated revenue. On the crypto side, this day saw slight struggles among digital coins. More trade uncertainty was likely a factor going into this day.

There was brief talk about mortgage rates being lower, yet price for houses are still high. Another move from Google, as their deal with Anthropic is worth ten-plus billions of dollars. Those invested in Asian markets have a good payoff today, as the White House confirms President Trump meeting with Chinese President Xi. Intel sees more demand for chips thanks to AI, kicking up their stock.

Stocks were great today, as the list of winners was abundant; losing stocks weren't much which tells us that there were more winners than losers. One of the reasons was a relaxed report about inflation. Speaking of relaxed, travelers had to do so since Alaska Airlines' IT upgrades triggered outages that forced to cancel 400 cancellations. If they can't fly, maybe they can drive, and Ferrari takes on auctioning a Le Mans car with crypto. Interestingly enough, Canada paused anti-tariff ads since government is still shutdown. When the shutdown will end, we don't know.
This was a much better week with stocks. Only thing I found to be mixed were ones among cryptocurrency, as traders were flocking over to Gold. However, as we saw, Gold dipped quite hard. Other than that, plenty of stocks were listed on the winning column, as there were too many to choose and list here; those on the losing column were also plenty, but their stock percentage wasn't much, averaging below 10%. That's what I got out of this week, despite it being a bit busy for me, personally, having dealt with other matters. One thing I am waiting for is the deal with Warner Brothers Discovery, with Comcast, Netflix and Paramount being contenders in purchasing their company. Another thing I'm looking for is market performance the moment government shutdown has ended.
What stocks impressed you this week? Do you think markets will skyrocket when the shutdown ends?
