With this "hustle and bustle" lifestyle we have, a nice snack like this would not only cater to such craving, but something we can enjoy overall. Let's talk about these onion rings from Brim's!
How these chips taste bears discussion, since this product is marketed as "sweet." Taste of these rings vary from bag to bag; some may be too salty, while others are bland. Nevertheless, these rings taste more on the salty side. With only 15% sodium, calculated with a serving size of about 19 rings, there was barely any hints of sweetness. Depending on your taste, you may want to eat these in moderation, if you're watching your salt intakes; it comes off as a product with high sodium (something along the lines of 40+%). Onion rings themselves are crisp; not too rigid, where it may scratch the roof of your mouth (a big plus, in comparison to other brands). Sizes of the rings vary, but aren't too big and can be eaten in one bite.
As you may have guessed, this bag from Brim's is an example of "slack-fill." When you shop and find these bags at your local dollar store, you'll see that they feel bloated. Shake the bag to get a hint of how much pieces are packaged in. If you can, find a bag that feels a bit heavy, or one which has less air. Anyway, miniscule portions when it comes to snacks, like these, are getting out of hand; no one is forcing us to buy it either, but there are times a snack craving hits, and it's hard to ignore leaving us with no option, let alone the asking price. We can stop buying it overall, yes, but this whole "slack-fill" is upsetting customers left and right; only way to let companies know is to mention it, as we are doing here.
All issues and critique aside, this is a great snack to consider when watching TV/streaming or movies. If you can get passed the salty taste, these will make your tastebuds and cravings happy. Despite all this salt, you're looking at a great bag of chips. Okay, so why the harsh rating? Percentage points have been automatically deducted to food items guilty of "slack-fill"—while not a policy yet here on KCU Network, giving how stingy food companies have gotten, leaving room for improvement, it's getting too much. Either you provide customers enough food or not; and our ratings are reflective of that. Anyhow, give these a try when you can!
