Benton's Crème Filled Wafer Rolls (Salted Caramel)

A sweet treat whose product design makes for a great snack during the holiday season.

Nothing like celebrating the Fall season than with some snacks appropriate for the time of year. I'm one of those who isn't a fan of hot weather, despite hanging around the desert in southern Nevada since childhood, but it's a cozy feeling when the weather finally cools down. That said, you're more hungry than thirsty, but you don't want to eat too much. That's where a nice, little snack like this comes in. These amazing wafer rolls are by Benton's!

Seeing these wafer rolls make me feel like I'm back in elementary school, around my seventh/eighth grade. Reason was we used to have carolers stop by our house to sing Christmas songs, then we all had a huge hangout and dinner together (carolers mainly consisted of staff members and students from school). One of the treats served were these, though it wasn't the same brand. Fast forward to Fall of 2021, and those memories are back again. I miss the olden days...even though I'm in my mid-thirties. It's delicacies like these that youngsters will never forget, as they, too, will enjoy the delicious taste these rolls deliver. The package is just right to package for your child's lunchbox, and the contents are enough not to make one feel guilty.

The outer shell, the wafer, is crisp and tender. Given how delicate the wafers are, you might make a bit of a mess due to way it crumbles so take your bites carefully. As soon as you get passed the wafer "walls," you get the delicious cream filling. The crème filling ought to make you feel like a kid again—like eating those chocolate treats that had liquid sweetness inside. The same could be said about this, as the filling isn't too sugar-y and it's enough to satisfy your taste buds. Theoretically, those who love their sweet indulgence can eat this in one sitting, but we recommend not to. While it does have an expiration date, snacks like these have a shelf life of about a year. Back to the filling: It also doesn't 'ooze' out when you take a bite. That doesn't mean that the filling is solid, but you get the best out of it when stored in room temperature. Again, you have a year until it expires, but eat some to enjoy, not to completely finish the entire can.

Speaking of the can, the leaf designs are a nice touch. Those who decorate during the season will enjoy having this in their pantries, fitting in with your Fall-related color schemes. Whether it's a snack for you, your significant other, your child(ren), or any of your friends/coworkers, this is a complimentary treat to give. (During the holidays, I don't understand why people get so sour when someone gives them fruitcake or pumpkin pie as a gift. I mean, it's food, and there are folks admitting they would throw it away if they received such gift. With the current shortage, does throwing food out make you regret such habit? Let's hope so; STOP WASTING FOOD. Can we all agree on that...please? If food is a gesture of Love, and you throw it away, that means you threw away someone's love for you. Sweet.) If given as a simple gift, lend it someone who appreciates the gesture and admiration they have for you. They're the best people to have in your life.

Enjoy these treats from Benton's. This is the most humble yet festive snack you can give to yourself or to another person. It makes for a great, seasonal treat to feast on while enjoying the cooler weather and/or your favorite warm beverage like hot cocoa, tea or something similar.
