Money Market Review (11/17/2025-11/21/2025)
A week that started dry, but ended strong.

No doubt: This has been a rough week for investors and buyers. Plenty are selling their stock(s) and there's no end in sight. Having rebounded from government shutdown, plenty of uncertainty—a word we've been using frequently—remains. Next week being Thanksgiving, there weren't much to be "thankful" for. What gives? Well, plenty of tech companies seemed to have dictated the market; another is crypto which explains its downturn, like Bitcoin plunging below 100.000; and also the job market looking dry. That means if the stock market continues to plunge, not only will the numbers be red, so will the investors' faces!

This week started with Berkshire Hathaway having a stake in Alphabet—the company that owns Google. Because of that, Alphabet struck an all-time high on this day. Reports on Tesla being down 10% so far this month; regulators are eyeing potential mergers, and rightfully so since Paramount-Skydance, Comcast and Netflix are ready to bid for Warner Bros. Discovery. Other news that happened this day was Palo Alto and XPeng fall ahead of earnings report. Overall, stocks started and ended on a low note.

Stocks were low at the closing for Tuesday. While there were reports about a $71B bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount states that that's "inaccurate." What stood out on this day was Cloudflare suffered a major outage, bringing X/Twitter and ChatGPT offline. Continuing with tech, Google announced Gemini 3, continuing their race in AI. We know AI requires plenty of power and data for backup, and for that, blackout risks are high as we head into the winter season Also on this day, Meta wins the anti-trust lawsuit and is able to keep WhatsApp and Instagram. Not only stocks, but crypto, namely Bitcoin, continues to crash. Job losses slowed down in November so far, as reported on this day.

To wrap up this day, Bitcoin drops below $90,000 for the first time in seven months. Gosh...

What a great way to wrap up this week! Stocks improved and rallied. Bitcoin, again, heading into the worst week, and month, since the crash back in 2022. AstraZeneca will invest $2B as part of the US manufacturing push. President Trump cutting tariffs for coffee and beef should ease prices going into the holidays. Also, president Trump's Administration in talks letting Nvidia to sell their H200 to China. Eli Lilly, on this day, hits $1T market cap, thus becoming the first pharmaceutical company to do so. Ross "Dress for Less" stores continue to rally hitting record highs after earning report. Last, but not least, Comcast, Netflix and Paramount-Skydance have submitted their bids in buying Warner Bros. Discovery, though Paramount is the one wanting purchasing of the whole company.
It sure has been a rough and tough week, though things ended on a good note. The word "uncertainty" has been a word we've been saying since last month, and it seems more prevalent as we head toward November's last week. Plenty of selling shares in contrast to what's happening in crypto, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum, plunging to record lows. Another key factor, as mentioned earlier, was the dried-up job market. There have been TONS of companies holding off on hiring, yet some have laid off workers. One of the reasons being AI, while the other, often unreported, is outsourcing jobs to international workers, neglecting American citizens looking for work.
While we could say that there's been plenty of (re-)structuring among businesses, no one know how long until it all settles over. Plenty of businesses are already automating tasks efficiently, while some aren't sure nor having the budget allotted to bring in more human workers. On the other hand, an AI 'bubble' is on the watch, waiting for its solidity or bursting in terms of investing. In other words, the rapid development in data centers and the millions/billions spent on them may not seek enough return when all is said and done. There are a lot of citizens still believing in human labor, while others have moved on, looking at AI to rapidly get things done (depending on the industry). It was a weird week, and not one to remember, let alone all that's happened this month especially having to rebound from government shutdown. We can only hope and see, so at least there's something to be "thankful" for going into next week.
What did you think of this week? Any trades or stocks that concerned you? Who do you think will win the bidding war in purchasing Warner Bros. Discovery? Let's talk about it in the comments section below!
