Stock Trading: The New Source for Income Generation

Talking and going over one of the few occupations to garner income when regular work is no longer available.

We're all trying to get by. Currently, there are things outside our control, and situations where change is not only necessary but needed. For ourselves, we need to maintain our health, keep a fresh mind, and know what's at stake—what needs to be done. After watching a wonderful video titled You Don't Need a Job, you Need to WORK, it couldn't have been a more recommended video than at this current time.^[updated] What does it mean to work, but not have a job? This is key in entering the Social Age^[1]; but, there's more than just looking toward a new kind of age with respect to our living arrangements.

Work gets us through in life. That's what jobs are for; but not every occupation is fit for us. Since AI made its way in 2022, companies looking to adopt automation is becoming considered. Given that I, myself, have lost a job to AI, it tells we where things are headed; another tactic for businesses to save money and get things done faster. Having heard from my girlfriend, personal friends, and former coworkers on what they thought about AI became something to think about. While losing a job to automation really hit me, I didn't mind; I believed something more was going on, despite that I truly liked that job.

Pursuing our own passions will be the future of work, full-time. Granted, yes, I have this very space to share my talents, skills and work through writing. Now, yes, expenses get in the way which is normal, but there are plenty of (other) gigs for that. Nevertheless, as you keep up with your passion projects, income will soon make its way through. After all these years of people whining about starting their own thing—their own business—the lockdowns of 2020 should have been indictive of that. Not sure what those people ended up doing, but five years later, with the government currently shut down and jobs vanishing in favor of AI, having to work for yourself is what you may end up doing (hooray?). I mean, heck, what else do you plan in doing with your life? This is referred to the "gig economy," and it's not going to slow down any time.

Understandably, not everyone is able to work due to health-related hardships. It is where government assistance is necessary, though plenty of people have taken advantage of this; having cheated the system, taking in so much taxpayer money from those who are in dire need of it. Just goes to show who truly needs assistance, compared with the ones not wanting to work.

Reason for this blog post was inspired from an opinion piece by the World Economic Forum titled Why your portfolio will be your paycheck in the age of AI^[2], published in October 6, 2025. If this is true, then millions, perhaps billions, of people are in for the rudest awakening we'll ever see. More-so, Elon Musk made a statement that "robots will replace 'all jobs' and work will be optional"^[3] as we move into the future. I've talked about this time and time again: Finding your purpose in Life is key to survival, yet there are plenty of people, as time goes on, who haven't found that. I've also stated that this is something only they themselves can figure out; not myself, nor anyone reading this piece can help with that, as it's something personal—deep within you. Failure in finding one's purpose will result in emotional pandemonium, lead such people to revolt, get angry, become depressed or do things I'd rather not say. It's not a great outlook for those people. This is a very important point since being self sufficient is the new "job" going forward; as you can see, on various public platforms, there are those doing just that.

Some of you are thinking, "but Kris, what do I do? Where do I start?" Recall when Snapchat turned down the offer Facebook made in acquiring their app^[4]; yet, they ended up creating their own. Short video content, thanks in part to Vine, is the thing now, and is apparent with Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and various others. What does this all mean? If you enjoyed the job you liked, which you no longer have, see if you can try doing it yourself. For example, if you had a cooking job, and was laid off because the kitchen owner decided to use AI robotics to cook and prep the meals, try investing in kitchen equipment and cooking for yourself. You can have your own food truck, or food cart, then try and sell your delicious dishes. Assuming you have a business license to run your operations, along with a Food Handler's Card, I don't see why you can't succeed doing so; yes, you have to 'hustle' getting more customers, but the important part is you are now your own boss. You are feeding people, and food is something that every one of us needs. What you're doing my seem like a job, but you didn't apply for it; you crafted it and was able to set it all up; what you're doing is working. Even better, you can create video content of your cooking and share them online for the online audience to see for feedback and support.

Working will be today's survival tactic. Seems obvious, but we hope that this differentiates from finding a job in order to work. Are any of you able to work, without the guise and guidance of a real job? It's going to be tough getting the ball rolling and having those "entrepreneurial" vibes, but you have to get started. For those dependent on the 'system' in order to work will be the ones struggling. It all begins with what you're capable of doing—something the person themselves have to figure out. You have to find your reason for living, your purpose in what you bring to yourself, for others and the world. If you, or anyone you know, rely on government assistance because they don't feel like working, they will also be ones to face a harsh fate. Those who contribute to the good of society will be fine, but those who sit, complain, or expect that other people owe them something won't see a bright future any time soon ("spoiled brats" will also experience that very same harsh awakening). Nothing in Life is free nor does anyone owe you something: you have to work.

Stock Trading: The New Full-Time Job

Things won't be easy going forward, but that doesn't mean it'll be impossible. Whether you're able to work or not, stock investing will be the new 'job' going forward. Assuming government assistance is strict enough in providing those that really need it, and not toward citizens who cheat(ed) the system because they don't like working, stock trading and investing will likely be an only option. For that, we'll see more people open trading accounts with big names like Schwab, tastytrade, and more. However, trading isn't easy for everyone, as financial literacy is required before jumping ship. All those free trading classes you see advertised online will be fully booked, so much that those classes may end up charging fees due to demand. Since money is needed to trade and invest means those who are adept at saving money will be first in secure their accounts; those who know all the ins and outs of trading, buying and selling, will be fine. There are a lot of factors at play, and what direction will determine how resilient the people will be undergoing this change. (Adapting to change is key, as you can't stay nor stick with the same ol' habits any longer.)

Nothing is set in stone, and no one knows what the future holds. However, at the rate things are going, people either pursue gigs or trade and invest in stocks. People are heavily distracted right now, blinded by issues that aren't relevant, and focus their energies towards something or someone that doesn't need our time. Being self sustaining in terms of work won't be easy, as we encourage those reading this to start now. There are other things to consider, but for the most part, this is it. I personally know folks who do nothing but consume—watch movies, play video games, etc. They're not creating nor producing something, or at least cashing in on their expertise, and are very much just...there. If having to work and produce your own projects sound like too much to do, given the insecurities and low self-esteem such people have, then stock investing and trading will (likely) be their saving grace. In a world run by AI, I can't think of anything else that unhappy, insecure people are able to do, besides being reminders of who we should never be. Anyway, it's time to work and invest in yourself and your life. The job market may continue to slump, but take this time to know who you are, your skills and talents, then making something out of it. You've made it this far, and I'm sure you, among many others willing to put in the work, will do just fine. There are many others willing to pay and support the work(s) you do.
