The Numbers Are In (2025): Week 15 Recap
Kris Caballero • Dec 16, 2025 • 0 comments • Talkin' NFL
Going into this week, it's time to focus on stamping a spot in the playoffs. However, given that eliminated teams serve as "disruptors" for others, it's no relaxing time until the season is done. However, that doesn't seem to be the case with some teams, and as you saw, two teams finished their games with a score of 0. How bad must one team be to lose a game with no points on the board? Very strange, but perhaps some of these numbers we've recapped should give you the whole story.

What a rally for the Falcons this game. They made this game look easy, despite winning by 1 with a late field goal. Nice work, and even better, Falcons hit the "Grand Slam" winning all three betting sections. Fans who also bet not only won, but they profited off this game with Falcons coming in as underdogs. Strike it rich!

Three words: one field goal. That's all the Browns got in this game, as Bears did what they do best. What was interesting was 39% of the betting public placing bets on Browns via Money Line. Despite that, Bears hit the "Grand Slam" winning it all. Nothing else really, this was an easy game for the Bears.

Okay...so are teams just giving up already? The Bengals kept getting 'pecked' by Ravens, to the point where this was "another day at the office" for them. Anyway, Ravens needed this win as they're trying to sneak their way in to the postseason. No "Grand Slam" here, but wow, it's like there isn't much a need to talk about a game where a team scores nothing; it screams "I don't want to play" vibes.

Texans were too much in this game. Makes you wonder why they didn't play this way early on, but hey, Texans are still in the hunt so anything can happen as usual. For betting, Money Line and Point Spread won on the side of Texans but that's it. Cardinals are out of playoff contention, so the only thing they're looking forward to is snatching a good draft pick.

Jaguars roared their way onto this game, though Jets, being out of playoff contention, still put up a good fight. Despite the large win, this was a great game to watch. No "Grand Slam" here, but you can tell Jaguars were heavily favored in this game. Jaguars are getting very close to securing their spot in the playoffs after this win.

Looks like the batteries ran out of "juice" at Arrowhead Stadium. Either that or they were "overcharged," thanks to LA's—formerly San Diego's—visit, leaving the Chiefs out of playoff contention. My, how things change quickly. There were no "Grand Slam" here, but Chargers still have ways to go despite getting closer to securing a playoff spot.

Patriots looked great, until the Bills tackled their way through per second half. This was one of those games where the home team come in as underdogs; but despite that, Bills won and hit the "Grand Slam." Both teams played well, and was another one of the better games this Sunday.

Commanders, not having a chance in the playoffs, did well in this game; then again, so do the Giants. Still, Commanders looked great in this game. Better yet, they hit the "Grand Slam" winning all three betting areas. Had the Commanders played like this, they'd be unstoppable. Great run, Commanders.

I will ask again: do the Raiders want to play football? Is their losses reflective of low tourism in Las Vegas? This is the second time they ended with a score of 0—last time was in Week 07. This may as count as a practice game, especially for the Eagles. No question Eagles also hit the "Grand Slam" winning all bets. Wish we could say that this was a preseason game for the Raiders' sake, but they have a lot to reflect on.

Another great game on Sunday. Broncos have secured their spot in the playoffs, being the first AFC team to do so. Betting odds were very close, but despite being underdogs, Broncos won anyway. Packers are still in the hunt, but have a huge uphill climb ahead. May we say, the year 2026 is "Year of the Horse." Could the Broncos win it all?

Rams became second team overall—first NFC team—to secure their spot in the playoffs. This game was another exciting one, with fantastic touchdown plays and interceptions. Makes sense, seeing Jared Goff go against his former team; for the Rams, Colby Parkinson was amazing. We found this to be a thrilling game, though the loss for Lions pushes them back, seeing their playoff odds decrease. There were no "Grand Slam" on this game, but if you have NFL+, we recommended watching this match-up again.

Tough loss for the Panthers, pushing their playoff contention further back. In fact, this was the second time Saints defeated Panthers this season, which may have been a disruption for them. Even though Saints have no chance in making the playoffs, they hit the "Grand Slam" via betting. Panthers were doing so well passed the second half of this season, and might not see "light at the end of their tunnel."

What a turnaround: Colts were plowing through the competition, yet come in to Seattle as massive underdogs. Ironically, this win meant a lot for Seahawks as it increases their odds in making the playoffs. There was no "Grand Slam" here, but what happened with the Colts? They had a strong start this season, only to lose gasoline. Then again, Colts recruited Philip Rivers, who made his first start since 2020. Not sure if that was a good move, but for Seattle, their odds in making the playoffs are looking good. This was a great game to watch.

Coming off a 'bye' week, this was a needed win for the 49ers. Titans have no chance making it in the playoffs, after a rough season, but they played well this game. For betting, the 49ers won Money Line and Point Spread, while Titans won Total Points. Still ways to go, but this win pushes 49ers a little bit closer. We will see how they'll do the rest of this season.

This wasn't a great game for the Cowboys, even though Vikings are eliminated from postseason qualification. In fact, according to ESPN, this Cowboys loss leaves their chances in stamping their playoff spot down to 1%. Sounds uncertain, and it is, but like we've been saying, anything goes. Vikings hit the "Grand Slam" with this win, but that's very much it. This loss hurts, and now Cowboys can only hope at this point.

Pittsburgh really needed to "steel" this game from Miami. Having done so eliminated the Dolphins out of playoff qualification. Steelers almost hit the "Grand Slam," with Total Points ending in a push, but they won Money Line and Point Spread. If Steelers keep this up, they'll surely secure their playoff spot.

In terms of betting, like last week, there were a handful of "Grand Slams" hit by teams this week. Some of the odds were close, which very much tells us, "well, either one has a good chance of winning so take your pick." As for the games themselves, it seems that some teams don't care anymore, even if their gameplay reflects otherwise. Okay, then explain to me why teams like Bengals and Raiders wrapped the game with a score of 0? Not even a field goal was made, regardless. For teams eliminated in playoff contention, they could easily disrupt those wanting a spot, so really, every game counts as usual. It was an okay week overall, but it's just a weird feeling when teams with a score of 0 didn't even try; though it's understandable in sports like hockey, baseball, and soccer when scoring is hard to come by. Anyway, this week wasn't bad, and seeing teams like Texans showing improvement was good to see. Teams like that would trigger some surprises going into the postseason—assuming they make it.
What did you think of this week? Is your team in the hunt for a playoff spot? How did your bets do? Let's talk all about it in the comments section below!
