Having been a big food fan for so many years, exploring and experimenting can be fun. Because I've been so used to the deliciousness of hot sauce and pepper, sometimes you want a change of taste and try others. Out of the blue, finding this at a local dollar store in California, I found this creole seasoning. I thought to myself, "I'm not sure why Food Network never gave Louisiana chef John Folse a TV show," as if the network hasn't had enough southern chefs already. I recommend Mr. Folse, despite his series being aired on public television, because it wasn't long ago when I found an old DVD filled with various cooking shows on CreateTV that I recorded back in late 2013, and the show A Taste of Louisiana used to air during that time. I'm not sure why CreateTV took the show off their schedule, but it was fun to watch and filled with dishes I can live off of for the rest of my life. Perhaps you can say that purchasing, tasting, then reviewing this seasoning is an homage to Mr. John Folse and to the other Louisiana/southern cooks and chefs!
Talk about love at first sight, upon applying this seasoning to my meal—supreme pizza, if you're wondering—I couldn't resist the taste. Of course, like salt, you don't want to apply too much as it will be too strong. Just a pinch or two, and your taste buds will embrace the southern flare and spices it's been known for. My sister tried this, and loved it so much she wanted me to purchase another five cans of this amazing seasoning...which I did. The ingredients in the seasoning are crisp, not too sharp and the salty content isn't that strong (I learned from Emeril Lagasse that majority of southern food is on the salty side). Heck, my sister would apply this on ramen noodles, salmon, spaghetti, and more, knowing she can't eat without it. As for myself, I've even coated chicken wings with this seasoning, after it's been cooked, and was not dissappointed. Tony Chachere has certainly outdone themselves! I can't think of one complaint about this at all.
This seasoning is also available at Walmart, if you shop there frequently. Suggesting that this should be the official brand of creole seasoning may be too bold a statement to make, but we can't recommend this brand enough! Whether you're from the South, have relatives, have visited and/or love the culinary delights down there, you can bring all those flavors back with this can and liven up your kitchen with its beautiful aroma around your residence. It has made me love eating even more, as if I don't eat enough food already. I will now quote the words of that one online forum user, who is a member of discussing everything involving professional camera gear, as he said this: "I LOVE FOOD. FOOD IS GOOD." Thanks to this seasoning, I now have a reason to echo that statement. Thank you to Tony Chachere and company!
As an added bonus, when I think of southern, I think of southern hospitality. Having worked at a studio tour department which attracts various visitors around the country, and around the world, I'll never forget that one southern girl striking a conversation with me at work, happily demonstrating that famous hospitality. I've never visited the south yet, but I love southern hospitality because it chips away my southern California "uptightness" and this "togetherness anxiety" that I grew up being surrounded with (I'm not sure why Californians are this way). Delicious southern seasonings like this make me respect and admire the comfort of their hospitality. Thank you so much, especially to that young girl at the tour giving me that experience and conversation of what southern hospitality feels like (I believe she was from Kentucky or Tennessee).
