Money Market Review (05/25/2026-05/29/2026)
Peace talks are in! Just kidding.
Kris Caballero • May 29, 2026 • 0 comments • Posts
It's been, yet, another weird week. What's going on nowadays? While peace talks were in place, causing oil prices to crash, strikes have been exchanged yet again. It's like we don't know what's going on anymore because if we did, we'd be confused anyway. IF you have children, Trump Accounts have launched this week, helping your kid to save money. See what you think about that while tech stocks were quite volatile this week.
Happy Memorial Day! A personal thank you to all those who fought and served our American country. You will always be remembered.

DuckDuckGo suddenly saw a huge spike in search. What happened? Google's AI search revamp was met with mixed to negative feedback. You'd think that the world's largest search engine would be optimized for the better, but internet users say otherwise. Speaking of AI, Groupon will be cutting jobs shifting toward automation. On this day, just when peace talks were apparent, more hostilities abound raising oil prices yet again. It's like they're aware of how low oil prices will be, then suddenly, "Ha! Let's raise it again!" Yeah, sure...

Meta has now provided subscriptions for content creators wanting to earn revenue. Nothing like paying monthly for your favorite creator(s), huh? You may want to watch your coins because US stock futures have dropped since the strike on Hormuz...again. Worse, fellow Americans are facing inflation in groceries. The fact that there are monthly payment options for food is really telling. If that doesn't make you depressed, working for Jensen Huang might: admitting that he criticizes his employees every day. Makes me wonder how they truly feel coming into work (in all seriousness, I hope they're okay). I also hope residents in Australia aro okay, too, as they're suing the company 3M over "forever chemicals" contamination. After what happened in Bondi Beach, the folks down under are facing this. No kidding: the world is getting tired.

Home prices in China will fall slower this year. Wish that was the case here in America because savings rate is falling with it—lowest since 2022. Maybe what can save us is the Trump Accounts app which launched on this day. Perhaps tech CEOs should download it too, as reports on AI spending is piling up due to lower return on investment (ROI). Okay, so they lay off workers for AI, realize(d) its costs, then what? Re-hire back your employees? It's been said that AI data centers consume an average of 5 million gallons of water a day; something not even the biggest sporting event, like the Super Bowl, even consume. Alright, so are we okay not having drinking water anymore? Or will they blame us, citizens, just because?

Tech stocks very much dominated this month. I mean, if a company implemented AI, their stocks would rise. Is that the secret? Because that's what Dell did today, and they've won today; other companies such as Snowflake and Ford have done the same, so we'll see if their investments do them well. Some Americans will be doing well with $3,500, as Krispy Kreme settles a lawsuit about customer information breach. Maybe they can use that money on Robinhood, as their stock rose today. Why? You guessed it: they integrated AI into their apps. At least the income they earn from investments won't have income tax of some kind: ask Jeff Bezos wanting to do just that.
Great closing this week. However, is anyone surprised that tech stocks won this month? IF your company is public, making the investment to AI ensures your stock rises. However, as we've seen, the costs pile up faster than with regular human employees, thus begging the question: is it worth the investment, in spite of raising your stock price? You may want to ask Meta about that, as they continue laying off workers. With all this AI investing, let's see how these companies will fare out going into 2027.
Anything you got out of this week? Are you surprised that tech stocks have been winning this entire month? Do you think more companies will switch to AI to increase their stock value? Let's talk all about it in the comments section below!
