Knights vs Samurai (1, September 2024)
Reviewing the first issue released in this humble comic book series!

Diving into a new comic book series with no expectations is fun. With this new comic just released as recent as September 2024, we went in full throttle. Being that the surname of your's truly is Caballero, which means "knight" or "gentlemen," such became the reason for purchasing, reading and reviewing this comic. Mind you, we were not disappointed and let's talk about why.
Opening started off strong with a Dragon Slayer-like scene, where Charles—Sir Charles—fights off a dragon-like monster. Things got intense until something happened to Charles, but all was fine. As the story continued, Charles being crowned Lord was assigned into a mission to fend off intruders at a land to protect its citizens. This then led our main character making a sweet, romantic promise to the woman in his life while he's off. Mired by his mediocre leadership, Charles' army of knights were sailing off until they encounter a giant octopus inducing some damage on their ship. Men on board were able to fight off the beast and continued on their mission. This comic ends not only with the concern of big, giant monsters but a group of mysterious fighters that they'll have to negotiate with—some of you may have guessed who these people are.
Very simple story yet it reads like a TV series premiere available on popular streaming platforms; We were impressed. There were moments of action like the fighting scenes and some drama and we enjoyed it a lot. In other words, the premise behind it was told well such that our main character, Sir Charles, went from being another soldier to someone leading the way to carry out the operations and the army. Nevertheless, this issue introduced the whole story in the best way we have ever read.
The drawings and illustrations were beautiful. Given that we correlate this to a TV series, they look like they're from story-boards prepared for the director in which scenes to shoot next, who the cast member(s) will be featured, where the scene(s) will take place and much more. Not only that, these illustrations are perfect if this were released as a book! Overall, we loved the drawings, and as for the text and font, they were easy to read and styled in a way that expressed the necessary emotions when needed.
While there were quite a bit going on, there's plenty to unpack, though that continues on to the next issue. The story in the issue is sure to impress. For those wanting and waiting for the appearance of the Samurais, they do make an appearance, but it's very brief; Let's see if you know when they appear before reading this. Besides that, this very first issue started strong and makes you want to read more into it.
For those wanting a nice, humble comic series, look no further. Oh, and there weren't too many ads in the middle of this issue (how ever you feel about ads in comic books). There are ads but not until the end of the issue, as we have read and reviewed comics whose ads are featured in the beginning and in the middle of the issue. Other than that, you should be able to read this through with no distractions—"commercial breaks," if you will.
We love this comic series and have been keeping up with new releases every month. We're fans and look forward to keeping up with the story as we read and review more issues.
Thank you so much to Image and Todd McFarlane Productions! This was a work well done! Highly recommended!
