El Sabroso Corn Chip Dippers
A delicious and affordable, alternate brand of corn chips despite the "slack-fill."

Alternate brands are usually better and more affordable. Depending on which, alternate brands also are healthier than the popular ones. The moment we saw this at our local dollar store, we had to try these. We weren't disappointed: This is El Sabroso's corn chip dippers! (This brand also comes in regular corn chips, and that bag is colored red.)
This product is by Snak-King—the same snack company that sells Granny Goose items such as Blazin' Hot Cheese Curls. Off the bat, we knew it tasted good. Just the right amount of salt on each piece; not one has tasted bland, at least for us. Whether you have nacho cheese, salsa, hummus or any dip of your liking, the taste with these dippers should balance out. The texture of these pieces aren't too rigid, making every bite crisp and crunchy. One thing: Depending on the bag you get, which is hard to judge since these bags are printed with no transparent "window" to see through, some pieces can be very greasy. As you know, something a bit heavy in fat can be hard to digest—with respect to your own digestive system. Looking at the ingredients, they used several oils, from sunflower to canola. If your diet is strict about fats, you may want to re-think this as your snack option. Granted, the greasy content of these chips weren't apparent on every bag we bought and tried, but it can get too oil-y. This is something to think about before buying.
Like with most chip brands in the market today, this bag has "slack-fill." Just a reminder: "slack-fill" is getting an amount of food less than the package sold in. While there are a handful of chips in every bag, Snak King could've at least filled the contents up. (As of current, not one snack brand has taken note of this complaint as we know we're not the only ones.) Even though this is available at dollar stores, we think this should cost less than $1, if they "slack-fill" every bag like this. Might as well price it lower while they're at it, in proportion to the amount sold in each bag. Fair deal, right?
There aren't any more critiques to mention, as these chips are truly the real deal. If you can get by with "slack-filled" bags like this, let alone the somewhat greasy pieces some bags have, we'd highly recommend this alternative brand (we won't count out healthier options, which we're sure there are).
