Tillamook Country Smoker Pepperoni Sausage (Meat Stick)
Giving a shot at the beef jerky department, this one by Tillamook is perfect for those wanting a not-too-salty treat.
Suddenly these meat sticks are taking off. Let's pretend we're the ones who made it popular, along with wrestling star Randy Savage. Either way, companies are advertising them online, on television and elsewhere. It's becoming a huge hit now. This time, Tillamook hopes to snag a piece of the pie so here we go:
The package is the usual formal, clean presentation that Tillamook is known for. I like it as it's not too show-y, and it doesn't hog your eyes forcing you to buy their product just so the company can meet their daily quota/sales. It's humble and modest, and that's what I like. (Yeah, I took time to write about that because package design is often taken for granted as it does matter.)
While the content is cylindrically bigger than the other products, the taste is very fresh and meaty. There are no after-tastes and it's not tangy which makes for a very good choice. Only thing is I find it a little bit bland at times. I understand cutting off the sodium content, even at 580mg of sodium per stick, but perhaps it could use a little more flavor. Adding more salt may be pushing it, despite the sodium percentage, but this stick needs to kick up some flavor.
Not much else to say besides that. There's isn't enough that hasn't been said about meat sticks. It's a quick yet simple snack you can pack for work/school. However, with this product by Tillamook, a little bump in flavor would've given this a perfect rating. Then again, if you're looking for something that isn't too salty and/or too strong, these meat sticks should fit the bill!
- Tender and beefy taste. Very low on the salt content.
- Low salt may be too bland for some.
